We hope you enjoy learning about our first Ukrainian adoption of Brooke and Baylee in Nov/Dec 2001, our second adoption of Dima and Ella in May/Jun 2004 and out most recent adoption of Viktor, Zhenya, and Sasha in Dec 2007/Jan 2008. We consider our family to be one of God's design. After having an only biological child, Ginger, for 15 yrs, it was never in our plan to adopt 7 more children, much less to travel all the way around the world to Ukraine to get them! However, in this process we have discovered more blessings and joy than we ever dreamed possible.
It has been quite a change for us to suddenly become parents of 8 children. We're still adjusting daily and have to give credit to God for His grace and strength over the past 7 years. There have been many challenges adding older children to our family, but God has faithfully been with us every step of the way.
Two of our children have recently left the nest. Ginger, (22), and Dima, (19). Ginger, a recent UAB graduate in (Broadcasting, TV production) Communications and Theatre is now working and living downtown. She also teaches several age groups in tv production and theatre in local city schools. Dima, a graduate of Pelham High School in '07, has been attending classes at Jeff State and working at Oak Mt. Golf course maintenance dept. Even with these two gone now, we still have 6 kids still at home:
Ella (17), is a Sophomore in High School who plays on the school soccer team and enjoys drama classes. Brooke (15), is an 8th grader and enjoys swimming, biking and acrylic painting classes. Baylee (11) is a 5th grader who loves to be with friends, enjoys swimming, music and participating in theatre productions for fun.
Our newest additions to the family are 3 brothers. Viktor (18) a soon to be Sr. in High School, is interested in oil painting and has already set up an easel in his room and created several paintings. Eugene Derek, whom we call Zhenya, is (17) and Alex, whom we call Sasha, is (16). Zhenya and Sasha are both together with Ella in the 10th grade. All the boys enjoy school soccer, fishing, swimming and other sports.
We hope you enjoy reading our web site and viewing the photos! May God touch your heart, not only for the children of Ukraine, but for all children over the world who are praying for families and waiting to be loved.
